Transaction: The management team of a middle-market, private-equity-backed,
multi-location Restaurant Chain had difficulties to close their month end books.

BPS Role: BPS professionals were retained by the private equity firm to close the
books and manage day to day accounting & reporting activities. Deliverables were
ready within the due dates with saving of 2 FTE efforts on accounting role monthly
basis and also the same was done at one fifth the cost in local market.
- Each Restaurant store manager was the key in charge to share the input/invoices
& figures for sales for day to day business operations /activities from Accounting &
Reporting angle. - It was observed Information used to be gathered through email, which was not in
uniform pattern/order among all the locations. Movement of good from one
restaurant to other restaurant at times shown as sale in once location while other
location of restaurant showing the same as stock transfer. Hence it was misleading
company’s actual expense/Income. - There were Gift cards coupon used to be sold/redeemed at respective restaurants
but details were not matching with accounting records. It was observed many times
Liability for Gift card sold were not recorded rather it was recorded as Earned
Revenue. All those error were restated - A fixed and uniform format for sharing information were introduced. So that each

CASE 2– Day to Day Book Keeping and Month End Close
Transaction: A privately held manufacturer of Auto parts (Automobile Segment)
has difficulties in maintaining the books and closing.
BPS Role: BPS professionals were retained by the Sole Proprietor. He had recently
moved from Cash Basis Accounting to Accrual Basis of Accounting and had been
struggling since many items were not being appropriately recorded per Accrual
basis. In addition he wanted to shorten the process of month end close.
